Today’s most transformative organizations—the California State University, the University of California, Stanford University, The Trust for Public Land, Adobe, Airbnb, and Dolby, to name a few—have entrusted WRNS Studio with stewarding their built environments over many years and many projects. Working with these game-changing research institutions, entrepreneurs, and social impact groups has allowed us to cultivate and bring a distinct spirit of innovation to a national clientele.
Recognized for identity-rich, site specific design at any scale, WRNS Studio brings to each new project a point of view informed by all the other work in which we engage. With offices in San Francisco, New York, Honolulu, and Seattle, our staff works in creative studios across education, workplace, civic, transportation, and urban mixed-use.
Together, we are redefining what it means to be comfortable, healthy, and inspired at school and work. We think a lot about public/private interface, and how it might be enriched. Problem solvers and creatives at heart, we tinker in models, garages, even under the hood of our design software. When we talk about sustainability, we consider the ways in which wellness and resource conservation support economic, social, and environmental health. With several career-long educators at the helm, all of our work is bracketed by a vigorous culture of education, linking academia with practice to advance architectural excellence.
Our particular expertise in higher education benefits from the latest thinking in learning modalities and how to leverage modern workplace efficiencies and innovation within an academic context. Long-time leaders within the Society for College and University Planning, we lead regular workshops and presentations exploring the most salient topics in higher education. Likewise, we bring experience in a variety of collaborative delivery methods, including Public/Private Partnership, CM-at-Risk, Design-Build, Collaborative Design Build, and Lean Construction.
The majority of our clients are long-term business partners who we’ve worked with for many years, creating master plans and design guidelines, followed by programming, design, and construction. Our efforts serve to define and reconcile diverse and complex programmatic needs while laying the foundation for the thoughtful development and realization of a campus architecture specifically tailored to program and place.
