The LIFT Wellness Center is part of an initiative that seeks to promote healthier lifestyles by using education, physical activity, and nutrition to improve overall health and wellness.
As a fully integrated medical fitness facility, the user experience begins with an individualized full fitness and wellness assessment by an exercise specialist. A comprehensive wellness program including cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength and flexibility, nutrition and education is developed. The 81,606-square-foot center houses a full fitness facility, indoor climbing wall, full-size basketball court, an indoor swim and exercise pool, therapy pool, whirlpool, spacious locker rooms, group exercise and yoga classrooms, a demonstration/teaching kitchen and a healthy café that provides nutritious meals and snacks. An indoor walking track overlooks the neighborhood and downtown skyline. A classroom provides space for classes, programs, events, and medical services designed to educate the community about living healthier lives. A therapy suite offers physical, occupational and aquatic therapy and is fully integrated within the main fitness areas as an inspiration to patients. A comprehensive medical clinic offers preventive and curative care as well as treatment counseling, completing the healthy community circle.
The interior spaces were designed to enhance the users’ sense of well-being. Staff, as well as visitors, should feel better for having been there. Abundant daylight, a warm and nature-based color and materials palette, intuitively organized spaces, creative lighting, and residentially-influenced furniture project comfort in the clinic spaces and energy and vitality in the fitness spaces.
In addition to its goal of improving the overall health and wellness of the city and surrounding region, the LIFT Wellness Center also strives to encourage overall environmental well-being. The facility is currently registered for LEED NC Silver.
