Folkets Hus has been carefully restored and upgraded, giving the building the attention and care it deserves. The wonderful Kockum Luttinger Söderström was the project’s architect.
We won the competition for the interior design and tried to keep a light touch throughout, taking great care with Sven Markelius’s masterful and wonderfully idiosyncratic building.
The Folkets Hus project is a refurbishment and renovation project that we have continued to develop since winning an invited competition in 2022, working in close collaboration with the client and the other consultant teams. The property was in significant need of a technical upgrade, as well as an adaptation of its programme to meet the demands of the market.
Throughout the project, we have helped the client optimise the area of each floor as well as the circulation and flow diagrams, with the aim of increasing capacity and flexibility. We have also designed a range of new functions, including clearly defined meeting points, bars, fixed seating areas, and a reception that will become the hub for the activities of Dansens Hus and the Congress Company.
In addition to creating clarity in communication and circulation, we are strengthening the different destinations within the Congress Company’s offering of spaces: the Congress Hall, Restaurant, Café, and conference rooms. While these functions have existed previously, their increased capacity and stronger concepts will make them more distinct destinations and unique spaces available for rental.
The goal of creating a comprehensive solution for events of all types and sizes is achieved by providing spaces ranging from the 1,500-person Congress Hall to smaller meeting rooms and lounges. The restaurant will also increase its seating capacity, alongside an expanded kitchen that will be brought closer to the guests, creating greater possibilities in terms of the type of food that can be served.
