A 26-story, select service hotel with 191 guest rooms, conference facilities, fitness center and full-service restaurant. Visible from the Chicago River, the building rises to distinction sporting a custom 10,000 square foot metal mosaic facade. Due to a narrow site the floor plan allocates two guest rooms to the north and two to the south. This configuration allowed windows mainly on the north and south faces of the building, therefore creating a blank canvas of the highly visible western façade that faces the Chicago River. The teams involved found inspiration from the location of the building as a part of the Chicago Riverview Corridor and created an abstract pixelated image of sunlight reflecting off the water. The result is a 250 foot aluminum mosaic depicting the dynamic image in five shades of grey.
