An immersive learning experience organized around an "Open Library," this new middle and high school for 620 students transforms an existing UCLA general purpose building. The design supports the Academy’s core belief in students’ capacity to take on more complex, engaged, creative and independently driven work.
The Open Library offers a variety of individual and group study spaces that extend throughout the building, connecting learning and activity spaces including sound studio, labs, and classrooms. A large, shady patio south of the entry offers a focus for wellness and community with outdoor seating adjacent to the school’s dining hall.
