As one of multiple projects for the Edison Board of Education during the Summer of 2013, during renovations at the James Madison Primary School, Solutions Architecture re-purposed the randomly book stack segmented existing library into a bright, open-plan media center.
The design of the open space incorporates carpet flooring tiles; soft, tones and warm colors to provide an inviting atmosphere and little distraction with a low book stack dividing partition creating two distinct areas of independent learning —
Traditional reading area—seating up to 20
Media center including 18 computer workstations
Three Small Group Instruction Classrooms / Reading Rooms were carved out to provide a space for students to learn in a more attentive setting, interact one on one with the teacher or if necessary find solace a place for focused study.
