Located in Toronto’s historic Distillery District, Collège Boréal’s campus transforms two heritage industrial buildings: the Casegoods Warehouse and a floor of the Cannery Building, into an urban learning environment.
The campus serves as the college’s interim home while its future permanent facility is being proposed for development nearby.
The project adapts former distillery storage spaces into a modern post-secondary campus while preserving the site’s industrial character. Exposed brick, heavy timber beams and historic structural elements create a warm academic setting that connects students to the district’s heritage. Linked by one of the Distillery District’s iconic wooden bridges, the buildings function as a cohesive campus within the pedestrian-oriented neighbourhood. Flexible classrooms, student services, collaborative spaces and technologyenabled learning environments support Collège Boréal’s applied programs and connect the Toronto campus with its broader provincial network.
