Vann Spa in Bohuslän on the Swedish west coast has gained a new heart: a winter garden that unites nature, light and relaxation all year round. The glazed extension creates a gentle transition between indoors and outdoors, allowing guests to rest surrounded by greenery and daylight regardless of season.
Together with Vann, we set out to create something new, a space where experience and proximity to nature were central. The result is Vann Trädgård, a year-round retreat for rest and restoration.
The materials, wood, stone and glass, echo the surrounding landscape and the original architecture of Vann. The result is an environment that balances stillness and vitality, designed to enhance the sense of presence and recovery that has made Vann one of Sweden’s most beloved spa destinations.
To complement the new winter garden, we developed a series of bespoke furniture pieces that underline the materiality of the space and reflect the identity of the spa. Each element was designed to support the calm, nature-centric atmosphere that defines Vann.
The idea behind the bench was to let it emerge from the landscape itself. With concealed fixings, it was intended to give the impression of two materials growing together — stone and wood in harmony. Rather than drawing attention away from the rock formation that extends into the room, the bench reinforces the presence of nature and creates a seamless link between the interior and the surrounding landscape.
