Located on New York City’s iconic Fifth Avenue at West 28th Street, Perkins Eastman gave new life to a historic building and modern landmark tower, creating a luxury boutique hotel. The team analyzed the opportunity alongside developers, operators, and PBDW Architects to envision a lifestyle destination. A former bank designed in the early 1900s by McKim, Mead & White provided the ideal base. Because it was built in a landmark protected neighborhood, the historic structure and landmark tower were both suitable for the project. The tower features precast concrete, stone cladding, and metal frame windows arranged in vertical sets, bringing a renewed visual interest to 28th Street. Welcoming guests inside, a two-story space in the renovated bank includes a restaurant, lounges, ballroom, and hotel amenities. Private suites overlook Fifth Avenue along with guest rooms spread throughout both buildings providing a relaxing experience in the heart of the city.
