The Rodkin Academic Success Center, located on Scarlet Knight Way, consolidates all the academic support services for Rutgers Athletics within a single building. Serving more than seven hundred student athletes, the building offers support space for academic advising, individual and group tutoring, seminar instruction, a computer lab, and several lounges designed to encourage peer-to-peer teaching, learning, and study.
Perkins Eastman played a key role in shaping and designing the project, contributing to Athletic Campus Master Planning, programming and the design-build bridging documents for the facility (later carried out via design-build by Natoli Construction and Ewing Cole). The building also now houses the Rutgers Athletic Department’s administrative offices and serves as the training facility for the Men’s and Women’s Lacrosse and Soccer programs, encompassing sports medicine and hydrotherapy, strength and conditioning, locker rooms, nutrition, coaches’ offices, equipment storage, and a film room.
Perkins Eastman additionally created fundraising and development materials, including a custom interactive app, to support the university’s ‘R BIG TEN BUILD’ campaign. These efforts contributed to securing the largest single gift in Rutgers Athletics history: a $15 million donation from Gary and Barbara Rodkin.
