Tancho’s design is a carefully orchestrated blend of sophistication and approachability, creating a dining atmosphere that is warm and inviting. The entry is intentionally understated, featuring a single window and vertical Ipe wood cladding that seamlessly integrates with a matching heavy door, setting the stage for the experience within. Upon entering, guests are welcomed by a faceted wood ceiling that rises around a central kitchen, its volume wrapped in slightly textured blue tile which is symbolic of a Koi pond. Traditional Japanese craftsmanship is echoed in the detailing of the host stand, to-go shelving, and custom-fabricated booths and banquette seating, all inspired by intricate wood joinery. Floor-to-ceiling windows, softened by sheer drapery, allow natural light to filter in gently, while indirect lighting techniques of hidden linear lighting, floor lamps, and airy pendant lights create a warm and comforting glow. Anchoring one corner of the dining room is a large circular wood element with perimeter LED lighting, a subtle yet impactful nod to Tancho’s branding and logo, reinforcing the thoughtful cohesion of the design.
