A year-round residence set in the heart of pristine nature in South Iceland, with uninterrupted views of mount Hekla and Eyjafjallajökull.
The home was designed in close collaboration with the clients, an outdoors-oriented couple who wanted a layout that would comfortably accommodate guests while also creating a warm and personal retreat in the countryside. Particular emphasis was placed on the relationship between indoor and outdoor spaces, allowing the surrounding landscape and panoramic views to become an integral part of the living experience.
The house is organized around two bedroom wings connected by a spacious central living area, which opens directly onto terraces on two sides. At one end of the house, a home office and library provide a quiet space for work and reflection, separate from the main living areas. The interior is defined by natural materials and warm, earthy tones that reflect the surrounding landscape, creating a cohesive and immersive atmosphere.
