The owners of Little Red Fox selected CORE to co-create Sugar Fox, a clean and modern take on the traditional ice cream shop.
Sugar Fox is a dual-concept neighborhood ice cream shop and bakery that delivers a fun and warm atmosphere with pops of color and moments of whimsy. The design pays special attention to intuitive customer flow and efficient workspaces. Catering to a family-friendly neighborhood, there are low window seats, taller bar height seats as well as shorter bar ledge seats for children, and ample room for strollers. To avoid any cross-traffic during the high-volume summer season, the queuing for ice cream is separated from the walk-up cake counter. Paying homage to Disneyland’s Gibson Girl, the space features a modern interpretation of a Victorian-style ice cream parlor lattice screen, which visually separates the front and back of house. The service counter translates into a compact and functional workspace, offering guests several flavors of ice cream, soft serve, and cakes, along with a variety of cone, cup, and sprinkle accessories. The menu signage is visible from all angles and ice cream toppings and cones in vertical dispensers are on display right below. The interior design benefits from the large, transparent storefront window, which is being used as an advertisement to the streetscape, making the cake displays visible from the outside. A custom sprinkle fox design pattern shows in various forms throughout the space, adding an element of hidden little gems to be explored by adults and kids alike.
