The SRG Tower is a 111-floor luxury residential apartment tower, which includes a resort style swimming pool, luxury lobby with cafe, multi-purpose rooms and retail.
A new benchmark for future high-rise towers, the LEED-Platinum tower features two wind turbines with a viewing platform, offering uninterrupted views of iconic projects in Dubai. The Pre-Concept Design was a culmination of Architecture, Structures, Wind Engineers, Sustainability, Façade Engineers all at the same time. The tower includes highly efficient solar photovoltaic panels at every floor on the southeast and southwest facades. The three major elements of the design are the external Glassfibre Reinforced Concrete (GRC) diagrid, the two wind turbines on the top of the building and the three sky gardens, which offer green communal spaces within the tower and help reduce the wind load on the facade.
The Mega Diagrid Structure creates an instantly recognizable architectural expression. Not only does it add to the uniqueness of the building, but it is also highly efficient in resolving the lateral wind loads, slowing the wind across the building, therefore reducing the negative pressures behind the building. The design reduces the weight of the building and the foundations by up to 22% and reduces the direct solar gain to the façade by 30%, in comparison to a fully glazed curtain wall façade. The turbines are designed to create 500kW peak energy.
The SRG residential tower includes an adjacent car park building; the top of the tower features two wind turbines with a viewing platform, offering uninterrupted views of iconic projects in Dubai such as the Burj Khalifa, Dubai Opera, Downtown Boulevard, as well as the Arabian Gulf. The tower also features highly efficient solar photovoltaic panels at every floor (in the spandrel glass area) on the south east and south west facades.
