Located on Schloßstraße in the Bockenheim district of Frankfurt, this five-storey block (plus roof storey) replaces a flat-roofed building that was mainly used for gastronomic purposes. It houses 13 apartments and a children´s daycare centre with associated offices on the ground and first floors. The building reacts to the urban situation between the road on the north side and Von-Bernus Park on the south. In terms of its volume, it continues the development line and eaves height of the surroundings and, with its pitched roof (ridge parallel to the street), blends well into its setting. The street and gable-ends have restrained punctuated façades, while the back of the building has full-height glazing and loggias opening to the garden of the children´s daycare centre and the park, the entrance to which is right next to this plot. With its monochrome coloration, the red clinker façade looks both familiar and residential, while also setting a distinctive counterpoint to the adjacent faceless housing development of the 1960s.
