New school, High school and central industrial kitchen of Suomussalmi were combined in this building. Functional requirements and synergy sa well as many technical requirements guided the design process, but the most important part was keeping the high-school and elementary school options in Suomussalmi, which is thought to increase the attractiveness of smaller towns in Finland.
Competition phase was won by our proposal embers that consisist of three black masses leaving a high lobby space in between the embers. We have designed extensive outdoor areas close by.
