Quad5 is a 6100m² office building in the heart of Auckland Airport’s business district. It is one of the first buildings to draw on the Airport’s larger masterplan and as such, its quality and performance needed to set the benchmark for future developments.
The building aligns with access routes and hospitality quarters to reinforce the precinct centre, whilst also maximising the view of the surrounding Manukau Harbour and airport environment. The project was centred on enhancing the connectedness of staff. As a result, the design concept was developed ‘from the inside out’ by making workplace functions the key driver of the design form. The resulting open-plan working environment also makes the space easily reconfigurable for added resilience.
Sustainability was a key objective in the design of this building, with Auckland Airport targeting a 5-Star Greenstar rating. Through the use of sustainable principles and environmentally friendly materials, the building achieved a 5 Green Star Office Design Rating
