POP is an interactive agency which employs a dynamic blend of design, technology and marketing strategy to help other companies, and their brands, navigate the thoughtful crafting of innovative experiences for the web, mobile devices and emerging digital platforms.
Having spent 10 years in an industrial area north of downtown Seattle, significant growth and projected future growth forced the company to look to create a new workplace that would enhance their culture, allow better workflow, and cultivate an environment that would reflect their design values not only to their current and future clients, but more importantly, to the best talent available within their industry.
After touring several potential sites in Seattle’s downtown core, POP elected to locate their new workplace on the top floor of a 1920’s era, 8-story office building on bustling 5th Avenue. The existing office space was completely gutted, which allowed four full height inverted concrete trusses – the main structure for the building - to become fully exposed, while at the same time revealing eight existing skylights that had been covered over for years. The initial design direction led to sandblasting all of the concrete trusses and walls to help celebrate their unique structural characteristics. With the skylights restored, daylight was then allowed to penetrate deep into the space. From there, the design direction was to simply insert modern work points and functions into the space.
