The young couple was looking for their first home while arranging their wedding preparations. The apartment they chose is located in a residential area of the city near many green spaces. Wide and open, the apartment has 100m².
As they receive lots of friends at home and love cooking with them, a large, integrated living and kitchen area was required. Another demand was the possibility of different layouts, so that they could comfortably use the house both alone and with a large number of visits.
Through the drastic change between the used materials, the project creates the clear distinction between the main zones. The wooden floor and the warm color furniture in the living room contrasts with the marble and white used in the kitchen and circulation areas. Despite the strong dividing line between areas, the space is fluid and integrated.
The sofa was an important item in the layout definition: custom made and two sided, it serves both the living and the dining room. When the dining room is not being used, the flexible back cushion allows a wider seating area, promoting greater comfort to watch television. Above all these spaces, we chose to remove the drywall ceiling, leaving the concrete slab apparent and its rusticity exposed.
The physical trainer and the chemical engineer are constantly traveling so we created plenty of exposition spaces so they could show their memories. The materials sobriety is broken by the use of decorative objects and plants of various types, which the couple particularly loves.
