The owner of this home is one of the craftsmen we have worked with for many years—someone who has been by our side from the early days and has become like family.
The people who work alongside us on site know better than anyone how we approach a project and how much attention we give to its details. For someone who understands our work so closely to entrust us with his own home felt like a sincere vote of confidence.
This time, it was our turn to return the trust and support he has given us over the years.
Designed for a couple, the apartment follows the owners’ preference for a Japanese-Scandinavian aesthetic. Materials, surfaces and details were carefully brought together to create a calm, lasting interior shaped around the practical needs of everyday life.
In the shared living area, a milk-tea-toned mineral plaster wall is paired with dark timber cabinetry, slatted doors and woven rattan details. The darker finishes give the room a sense of balance and definition, while the rattan and lighter materials soften the visual weight of the cabinetry.
The television wall was kept deliberately simple, extending into a floating shelf and integrated storage. The shelf leaves room for objects collected over time, allowing the wall to remain composed without feeling too formal or removed from daily life.
The study is enclosed in glass to maintain a sense of openness and allow light to pass through. At the entrance, a textured fluted-glass sliding door provides privacy when needed, giving the room the flexibility to shift between openness and quiet concentration.
The kitchen, dining table, island and cabinetry are arranged as one continuous working area. Cooking, dining, appliance use and storage are kept close together, making everyday routines more direct and intuitive.
One end of the island countertop is supported by a glass panel, creating the impression that it is floating. This small detail lightens the overall volume and gives the island a more refined presence within the room.
Over the years, he has helped us complete the details of many homes.
This time, we approached the home he shares with his wife with the same care and commitment.
And now, their shoes no longer have to be left outside. They can step inside first, and take them off at their own pace.
