Ritz-Carlton Millennia Singapore is rated Top 5 for World's Best: City Hotels in Asia 2012 by Travel+Leisure.
Best Buildable Building in 1999 by Building Construction Authority.

This project is a development of two office buildings of 883,383 s.f. and 553,318 s.f. and a 600-room hotel of 785,842 s.f. located in Marina Centre, Singapore's premier business commercial district.

For visitors approaching Singapore's center from the airport, the site acts as a gateway to the heart of the city. The design challenge was to use the site's location effectively to enhance the urban design of the harbor area yet provide an efficient, economically-viable project in a competitive market. Recognizing these factors, it was determined that the major elements of the plan should relate orthogonally to the overall grid of the Centre City and establish, in its architecture, a strong and forceful character that would herald the city of the next millennium.

Set overlooking Marina Bay, the hotel tower is a single, slender slab, 15 meters by 106 meters. The guest rooms float 15 meters above the base which permits the approaching visitor a glimpse of the bay and the central city, dramatically framed by its supports.

The two office buildings are located on a large, open pedestrian plaza bordered on the west by the shopping arcade. In addition the park-like plaza contains sculptures, cascading waterfalls, reflecting pools, and groves of trees providing vitality and harmony with the local urban scene.

High buildability was achieved in this project through technical innovations, good construction techniques coupled with simplicity in detailing and standardization of building components. The unit cost of this project was $1,888/m2 which was lower than the industry average of $2,200 to $2,650 per m2 for the office within CBD (up-market) category. This project was completed in 23 months. A time saving of 5 months as compared to a similar project using the conventional method.
The Ritz-Carlton, Millennia Singapore is home to one of the finest corporate modern art collections in Singapore and Southeast Asia. Made up of 4,200 pieces, 90 percent of the works were specially commissioned for the hotel, including 350 major, "museum quality" pieces - including major works by Frank Stella, Roy Lichtenstein, James Rosenquist, and Dale Chihuly - enhance the hotel’s distinctive contemporary architectural design.

A complimentary self- guided art tour podcast begins with an introduction on the hotel's architecture and design. Listen to an excerpt.
