Mazkeret Batya Train Station covers an area of about 3,000 square meters and located on the railway line Beersheba - Lod - Tel Aviv, designed to connect Beersheba metropolitan with Tel Aviv metropolis.
The station is designed to serve, among others, the towns of Mazkeret Batya, Kiryat Ekron, South Rehovot, Gedera and the joint employment area of Mazkeret Batya and Gezer.
With the expansion of Highway 411 to a two way road, with two lanes in each direction, the station will also serve the residents of South Rehovot with a shorter driving time to it than the time required to cross the western side of the city towards Rehovot station.
Design principles:
1. Separated into three main areas: passenger hall, administrative area and technical area.
2. Good orientation – clear passenger traffic towards the platforms, unimpeded and at the same level.
3. Reducing the feeling of being "below the tracks" by opening large windows and garden areas.
4. Better and faster crowd flow - Security Check- tickets purchase- tickets check.
5. Functional array that includes among others:
• Preventing bottlenecks in the ticket office area.
• Location of station manager room - in relation to the hall.
• Borderline functions with dual front facade to the controlled area and to the non-controlled area - such as a cafe, toilets.
• Organized place for entrance control facilities, automated ticket machines and others.
• Niches for posters and advertisements.
6. Location of protected spaces - underground passage between the station and the platform area plus an uncontrolled protected space with a dual purpose use which also serves as a staff club.
7. Optimal gross-net relations.
8. Finish materials with high wear resistance which characterizes train stations.
9. Finish with sustainability and aesthetics suitable for both inside and out.
10. Platform roofing for maximum protection from weather.
11. Dynamic design that simulates linear movement at the station and cover both platforms.
12. Preparation for a future Command and Control structure as an integral part of the station building.
13. The stone cladding represents the traditional building style of the old Mazkeret Batya, while the roof is made of aluminum cladding in a manner the blends the old and the new – the base which grows form the land and the upper part which is dynamic and relentless.
14. The Building itself is designed to represent the horizonal movement as a wave moving into the sea.
