Nature, gentleness, tranquillity, and security are the basic elements of the master plan for the Podersdorf lido. How do you create identity, balance and a place to linger that is also a recognisable feature? Lake Neusiedl is at the centre of the new harbour district. A new infrastructure forms the framework or backbone of the marketplace on the lake.
New Harbour District
The New Harbour Area is a new landmark between land and sea. The harbour and pier beautifully embody the connection between these two worlds. A meandering and elevated pathway of the pier unravels visitor and user flows and maximises the length of the pathway that runs directly alongside the water.
The circular path of the promenade connects all the highlights of the newly created harbour district - market square with the sun- and wind-protected quiet zones, food trucks, play and water play areas, bicycle parking, lido access, boat rental, stage, restaurant, marina, bridge, pier, bicycle ferry and lighthouse.
Hills and water
New buildings become and form the landscape. The landscape of the Seewinkel from the Parndorfer Platte to Pamhagen serves as a model. Gentle hills, heaths, "sun and windbreak trees" define the area. The buildings themselves integrate into nature like the Burgenland wine cellar.
Roofs and open spaces are greened and covered with hydroactive surfaces. They can not only store rainwater and release it in a time-delayed manner, but also function as a natural air conditioning system for the building below. In addition, greening can reduce sealed surfaces to a minimum.
