Khalidiya Park: Reimagining Community Through Architecture and Landscape
Khalidiya Park, a cherished yet underutilized urban space in Abu Dhabi, has undergone a transformative redevelopment designed to reconnect the community with its natural and cultural environment while introducing sustainable revenue-generating elements. The vision balances urban living, public wellness, and recreational opportunities within a cohesive architectural and landscape framework.
A New Vision for Public Life
The master plan repositions the park as a dynamic hub for community interaction. The redevelopment prioritizes public access and green space, expanding park areas for active and passive recreation, while incorporating sloping landscapes to mitigate heat and enhance natural airflow—an adaptive strategy for the region’s climate. These gentle slopes create naturally shaded pockets and panoramic vantage points, inviting residents and visitors to linger, relax, and engage with the environment.
