The Juxing Bridge, located in the heart of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao cooperation zone along Nansha’s Jiaomen River, is an elegant pedestrian bridge designed to enhance convenience and provide leisure space for residents. Drawing from the concept of “three banks arching together in unity,” its starfish-inspired structure gracefully spans across three riverbanks. This design transforms constrained geography into vibrant urban interfaces, serving as both a physical link and a symbolic representation of Bay Area collaboration.
The bridge features a Y-shaped triple-arch structure with three symmetrical 86-meter spans, designed based on the principle of structural reciprocity. It efficiently connects residential, innovation, and park areas with the shortest distance. To cope with the hot Lingnan climate, a shading canopy with diagonal rhythmic curves shelters pedestrians. At the intersection of the three limbs, an opening is made to reduce load, linking the sky, river, and pedestrians, thus forming a center of gathering.
The pristine white exterior reflects futuristic sculpture, while warm-toned interiors with bamboo-wood flooring and smooth UHPC seating radiate a human-centric touch. Its unique form serves as a visual landmark, with the 120° intersections creating a panoramic viewfinder: visitors gaze upon the charm of Jiaomen River and city-skyline, while arches reveal lively cross-shore activities. This design transforms steel rationality into immersive spatial poetry, blending "viewing" and "being viewed" in dynamic interplay.
Juxing Bridge elevates functional needs into cultural symbolism. Its Y-shaped framework sparks a dialogue between Bay Area unity and Lingnan ecological wisdom, merging form, function, and structure to synergize living, working, and leisure realms. Beyond mere infrastructure, it reimagines urban identity through artistry — becoming both a symbol of Nansha’s innovative spirit and a hub for public spaces that balance global appeal with local characteristics. As a testament to collaboration, it embodies the shared vision of the Guangdong-HongKong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
