Set on a four-hectare beachfront site overlooking Halong Bay, the InterContinental Halong Bay Resort and Residences establishes a new benchmark for experiential design in Vietnam. The project maximizes bay views through a layout designed for discovery and a deep connection to the surrounding landscape.
Drawing from the legends and dramatic limestone formations of Halong Bay, the architecture reinterprets tradition through a contemporary lens. Stone-clad forms, expansive glazing, hidden lagoons, sunken gardens, and lush tropical landscapes create narrative rooted in the local environment.
Performance anchors the aesthetic. Through green roofs, low-emissivity glazing, and landscape-led planning, the project is positioned for significant impact. It targets projected savings of 31% in energy, 27% in water, and 30% in material energy, reducing annual carbon emissions by 5,086 tons.
