The design of the new Park and Ride Facility in Brooklyn Park fuses an abstraction of the surrounding landscape with a high performance state of the art sustainable facility to create a striking statement along the Hwy 610 corridor. The facility is Metro Transit’s first solar powered park and ride facility. A 40 Kw photo-voltaic array is the primary power supply for the facility. Additionally, geothermal heating and cooling system takes advantage of the earth’s constant temperature, lowering overall building energy demand. The use of LED lighting with zoned sensor controls will reduce energy costs by 60% compared to a standard ramp design.
