A growing suburban area needed more spaces for 5th to 9th graders. We were tasked to design these by extending an existing multifunctional building. One of the challenges in addition to functional requirements was to find a suitable architectural language that distinguishes itself from the existing building discreetly enough. Inside, we opted to continue the pedagogical learning enviroment of the existing building and outside we paid careful attention to massing the addition just right and decided to use similar materials as the existing building, but with unique details.
