Located in São Paulo, GLS House was conceived with materiality as the central axis of the project and spatial integration as the guiding principle of its architectural program. Designed by SUITE Arquitetos, the residence reflects an architecture shaped by precision in detail and a sensitive understanding of its residents’ way of living.
Concrete structures the composition and lends the house a distinct urban character, while freijó wood veneer millwork runs continuously throughout the interiors, articulating spaces – from the home theater to the guest bedroom – and establishing a strong sense of unity. Doors clad in natural banana leaf fibers introduce texture and nuance, reinforcing the project’s direct engagement with the expressive power of materials and creating a balanced dialogue between rustic elements and contemporary language.
The spatial organization is defined by varying degrees of connection, allowing for a coherent and fluid reading of the house. The kitchen and dining room share the same visual and material field, with the possibility of full integration, while areas such as the wine cellar and support pantry emerge in a more contained manner, carefully accommodated within smaller spaces. Transitions unfold smoothly, qualifying circulation and enhancing the everyday experience of the home.
The relationship between architecture and nature is fundamental to the project. The gourmet area is organized around an existing tree, incorporating it as an active element within the design. The garden extends through the interiors and operates as a natural continuation of the architecture, reinforcing a way of living that dissolves the boundaries between interior and exterior in a direct and understated way.
On the third floor, entirely dedicated to the couple, the primary suite establishes a direct connection with the outdoors through expansive openings. The bathroom, enveloped by greenery, connects to the exterior and to a hot tub positioned on the bedroom terrace, expanding the sensory experience in an integrated manner. The office occupies this same level in continuity, linked by a custom bookcase that combines storage, library, and support functions, preserving the material and spatial unity of the whole.
At GLS House, precise and authorial architecture emerges from the integration of spaces and a careful attention to materiality, creating an atmosphere that values texture, tonal subtlety, and a coherent vision of contemporary living aligned with SUITE arquitetos’ design approach.
