The design and construction of this 9,790m2 multi-use facility utilized an integrated design process (IDP). As part of the IDP the general contractor, structural steel contractor, mechanical contractor and electrical contractor were engaged during the schematic design phase of the project. The team utilized a Big Room process, typically used in Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) projects, creating collaboration between the architecture, engineering, construction and trade partners on key design decisions.
Flexibility was at the forefront of design for the facility, allowing for team teaching opportunities, differentiated learning spaces for students, barn doors incorporated between classrooms, and break out rooms throughout the school. Additionally design provides spatial quality that will allow for teaching/learning processes to evolve with the educators and students.
