One of the civic endeavors undertaken by humans, as urban culture developed, has been the construction of gardens. We have traces of gardens from all times and places. All past cultures created ways to "enclose" a "summary" of nature within a defined plot. The garden and the dwelling were an integral part of the architecture of the city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, not only as isolated spaces within "Canarian patios" but also as a necessary ingredient to form part, as the lungs of the urban fabric, of the streets and squares.
