Starting in 1997 and running through 2007 I created a series of offices for frogdesign (a.k.a. "frog") in Sunnyvale, CA, Austin, TX, and New York, NY. These were united thematically, each one built in a former industrial space
Over a period of decades frog has been instrumental in shaping the design landscape, collaborating with major brands such as Sony, Apple, and Disney. Notably, the firm developed the "Snow White" design language for Apple in the 1980s, influencing the aesthetics of several Macintosh models. The physical space of their corporate offices had to reflect their dynamic design ethos while allowing their creative teams the freedom to invent design languages and new forms in a constantly evolving technological environment. I evolved a specific design language rooted in the use of designed-for-disassembly interiors employing recycled newspaper panels (Homasote), metal studs, industrial carpet, open plan offices, and conference rooms that were implied rather than defined. The initial Sunnyvale project (1996) was a feature article in Contract Design magazine; the Austin, TX offices won an AIA Design Award, Austin, Texas Chapter, American Institute of Architects in1997.
