Building on the iconic visual language first established at the Faena Hotel Miami, L’Observatoire International continues its long-standing collaboration with the Faena Group at Faena New York. Located in the East Tower of The XI complex—between the High Line and the Hudson River—the project translates Alan Faena’s cinematic sensibility into a lighting narrative that is immersive, warm, and unmistakably theatrical. From arrival, lighting becomes the emotional connector between architecture, art, and atmosphere. Guests enter through a soaring space anchored by a monumental mural, brought to life through concealed gallery-style wall washers that sculpt the sweeping stair in silhouette. This chiaroscuro reveal sets a tone of grandeur and mystery, establishing light as a guiding performer rather than a backdrop.La Boca forms the project’s emotional core. L’Observatoire collaborated with the late artist Alberto Garruti on one of his final works, Storms, a large-scale installation echoing the poetic spirit of Faena Miami. Here, lighting harmonizes with the artwork and architecture: subtle grazers animate Jorge Lizarazo’s threaded curtains with shimmering depth, while custom table lamps bring intimacy and a refined residential scale to the space.
On the second floor, a palette of deep reds and golds defines a warm, reflective ambiance. The bar glows from within, with integrated millwork lighting revealing gold-leaf petals and soft accent light grazing banquettes and the mirrored artwork by Juan Gatti. In the adjacent Living Room, custom pendants designed by L’Observatoire contribute texture and tactility, complemented by indirect coves that balance daylight and create a seamless shift from afternoon to evening.
Throughout the hotel, automated scenes transition from day to night, ensuring each moment feels cinematic, atmospheric, and deeply human—lighting as storytelling, distinctively Faena.
