An inside-out reimagination and modern extension to a 1950s cabin in a lakefront community in northern Westchester County.
The layout of the existing two bedroom house was strategically rethought, with the walls raised and roof rebuilt. We seamlessly connected the existing structure to the new entertaining space with a glass corridor. An open kitchen, dining, living room extension matches the form of the existing house while interior and exterior finishes are consistent across both.
The design is meant to accentuate the newly constructed interior height in both the old and new sections of the house. Rich flooring and dark stone counters ground the house, juxtaposed by the soaring 16' vaulted ceilings throughout the public and private spaces of the home.
