Harmony takes advantage of the lagoon views and the sun setting behind the mountains on the coast side of Brazil to create an atmosphere of contemplative dwelling. Rather than concentrating shared amenities in a single structure, the project fragments and distributes different uses across the site. The topography was reshaped to establish a continuous path in which the observer becomes immersed in the terrain, allowing the landscape to flow through the development without obstruction. Conceived as a retreat, it is designed for year-round use.
Harmony’s materiality evokes a nostalgic Uruguayan sensibility. With an abundance of natural stone in a raw finish and high-resistance materials, the project maintains its integrity amid the contrasts of the coastal climate. From furniture to lighting, the spaces act as direct extensions of the landscape. Well-being emerges from the tactile relationship between inhabiting and being.
