A New Model for Collaborative Workspaces
Just 15 minutes from central Oslo, Construction City brings together the construction, infrastructure and real estate industry under one roof. With 103,000 m² and capacity for 4,500 workplaces, the project is one of Norway’s largest commercial developments – and among the most ambitious in terms of collaboration, knowledge sharing and workplace innovation.
Cooperation and innovation
Construction City is conceived as a living competence hub where developers, contractors, consultants, suppliers, and academia work side by side. The architecture supports a wide range of work modes, combining flexible office spaces with open collaboration areas, teaching facilities, a conference centre, fitness centre and generous social zones. This fosters a workplace with interaction across disciplines and organisations, enabling new ideas and future-oriented solutions to emerge.
Collaboration at scale
At the scale of Construction City, architecture becomes a strategic tool for collaboration. LINK Arkitektur led the architectural work in close cooperation with the client, contractor and users. By combining clear architectural principles with strong interdisciplinary coordination, the project transforms a highly complex turnkey development into a coherent, flexible and user-oriented workplace that supports interaction across disciplines and organisations.
Nordic material palette and sustainability
The project combines light, air and a Nordic material palette with practical solutions for reuse and circularity. Wood plays a central role both aesthetically and functionally, from reused handrails transformed into block flooring in the glass hall staircase and auditorium, to large scale timber structures in the glass hall Certified BREEAM-NOR Excellent, the building meets high environmental standards and is designed for long-term adaptability.
Construction City is more than a workplace. It’s a business cluster and a catalyst for development in the industry. With its open architecture and strategic location, it is a new meeting place that will shape collaboration in the construction sector for years to come.
