Compass Orthodontics started with a simple mission, to guide patients towards their healthiest, most confident smile with professional, personalized orthodontic care of the highest quality. The practice saw Medina as an ideal location due to its strong sense of community, high-quality schools and growing population seeking localized healthcare.
Thielen & Green provided conceptual design services to set early expectations for design, establishing the overall design intent to determine the project’s feasibility and scale. The existing wetlands, planned unit development standards and grading limitations required additional due diligence review. Thielen & Green provided full scope design services after concept approval including interior design, civil engineering, landscape architecture and structural engineering. Programming includes a formal entry, waiting area, reception, consult rooms, imaging suite, six ortho bays, lab, sterilization, manager’s office, break room and various staff amenities. The design is a modern take on a Mediterranean aesthetic, with more localized materials on the exterior to fit the surrounding development. Large openings flood the clinical and waiting space with natural light. Pre-packaged awnings, exposed wood beams and dark storefronts provide some industrial design relief.
The project began construction in fall of 2025 and is set to open spring of 2026. This project was delivered under a design-build MEP and fire protection engineering approach with Heritage Construction Companies as the general contractor. Site selection was provided by Ryzo Commercial Realty.
This project utilized full BIM modeling for early design review, project coordination and clash detection, with a goal to limit field changes and expedite construction timelines.
