With the client’s Greek heritage in mind, CORE designed this fast-casual restaurant prototype with modern abstractions of Mediterranean vernacular architecture, utilizing simple, rustic finishes, custom copper light fixtures, and digital wall graphics depicting scenes of pastoral Greece.
A unique challenge of the first location of CAVA was the very long and narrow space, which the design team addressed by organizing strong built-in elements along a central axis. Millwork and furniture arrangements paired with menu graphics at a custom pylon at the entry create a separation between the dining and queuing as well as define clear circulation through the space. Further facilitating customer flow, a curving custom light fixture created from grappa bottles guides guests through the queue at this location. The success of the CAVA fast-casual prototype lies in its simplicity. The client had a clear vision for the guest experience and brought a lot of energy to the table, which helped deliver the edgy, industrial design for the restaurant concept that features an all-natural Mediterranean menu.
