Casa de Amor Residence
Casa de Amor Residence is conceived as a contemporary tropical home immersed in the landscape of Santa Teresa, within the Hacienda Okhra community. Located in the heart of the Nicoya Peninsula—between San Isidro and Las Delicias de Cóbano—the project is positioned to capture both the calm of the jungle and long-range views toward the Pacific Ocean.
Designed and built by CRN Architecture, the residence explores a balance between warmth and openness, where color, texture, and form are carefully composed to enhance the sensory experience of living in the tropics. The architecture is not defined by a single gesture, but by the layering of spaces that unfold toward the surrounding environment.
The program is organized around a central social core, where kitchen, living, and terraces merge into a continuous spatial sequence. This main living area opens toward a privileged view of the ocean, establishing a strong visual axis that connects interior life with the distant horizon. Large openings and shaded transitions allow light, air, and vegetation to flow naturally through the house.
The private areas include a master bedroom and three junior suites, each designed to offer comfort, privacy, and a direct relationship with the landscape. The distribution of these spaces reinforces a sense of retreat while maintaining coherence with the overall architectural language.
Materiality plays a central role in defining the atmosphere of the residence. Teak ceilings and detailed woodwork introduce warmth and tactile richness, while the roof structure elevates and unfolds to frame the surrounding canopy and sky. This upward movement not only enhances spatial perception, but also promotes natural ventilation and a constant dialogue with the environment.
The landscape is treated as an extension of the architecture. Carefully designed tropical gardens integrate the built form with the natural contours of the site, blending native vegetation with curated planting to create a seamless transition between forest and dwelling.
Casa de Amor is ultimately an exploration of harmony—between structure and nature, intimacy and openness—where architecture becomes a medium to experience the depth, beauty, and calm of life in the tropics.
