Tekoá Cabins emerge from the search for an architecture capable of reconnecting people with the landscape, with time, and with the essence of dwelling. Inspired by the Guarani word tekoá, meaning "the place where life happens", the project proposes a contemporary way of living in harmony with nature, transforming architecture into an extension of the territory itself.
Located in the mountains of Gonçalves, in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, a region renowned for its dramatic landscapes, valleys, forests, and rugged terrain, Tekoá Cabins are delicately integrated into the natural topography. The project preserves existing vegetation and allows natural light, distant horizons, and seasonal transformations to shape the user experience. Rather than dominating the landscape, the architecture belongs to it.
The project's innovation lies in dissolving the boundaries between interior and exterior. Decks, gardens, reflecting pools, and contemplative spaces extend the experience beyond the built environment, allowing nature to become an active participant in everyday life. Rather than simply observing the landscape, guests are invited to inhabit it.
The sophistication of Tekoá Cabins is not associated with excess, but with precision. The integration of architecture, landscape, natural light, and materiality creates spaces with a serene and refined atmosphere. Elegance emerges from simplicity, constructional rigor, and meticulous attention to detail, demonstrating that true sophistication lies in the ability to transform restraint into architectural excellence.
Materiality plays a fundamental role in shaping the project's identity. Natural stone, timber, and earthy tones establish a sensory dialogue with the mountains, creating an architecture that is both timeless and deeply rooted in its surroundings. The use of locally sourced materials reduces environmental impact, values regional resources, and reinforces the authenticity of the proposal.
Sustainability was incorporated as a fundamental principle from the earliest stages of design. Cross ventilation, expansive openings, brise-soleils, generous roof overhangs, and strategic building orientation promote passive thermal comfort while reducing energy consumption. Skylights positioned above wet areas provide abundant natural daylight, enhancing the quality of interior spaces and reducing the need for artificial lighting throughout the day.
The project also integrates photovoltaic energy generation, solar water heating, water reuse systems, composting, organic food production, and green roofs, which improve thermal performance and contribute to the visual integration of the architecture within the landscape. Together, these strategies transform Tekoá Cabins into a regenerative architectural model capable of giving back more to the environment than it consumes.
Beyond environmental responsibility, the project embraces the human dimension of dwelling. Shared spaces were conceived as places for gathering, contemplation, and exchange, promoting well-being, social interaction, inclusion, and a stronger connection between people and place.
Its pioneering character resides in proposing a new model of luxury, defined not by excess, but by the quality of experience, connection with nature, and respect for natural resources. In a global context marked by climate urgency and the search for more conscious ways of living, Tekoá Cabins present a vision of the future that brings together innovation, sophistication, sustainability, and belonging.
More than an architectural ensemble, Tekoá Cabins embody the belief that the future of architecture lies not in building over nature, but in learning how to build with it.
