This renovation of a 1950's split-level home transformed a compact but dark interior layout into a light-flooded open and warm environment, while also adding a new upper-level master and guest suite wing with tree-line views to the shaded lot. New Northern White Cedar plank siding with custom ribbed profiles was used to clad the new wing as well as re-clad the existing dated scalloped wood siding, while retaining most of the existing base-level brick. A double-height entry hall was created, capped by a reverse-sloped, "butterfly" roof, angled to capture maximal daylight penetration into the house through multiple skylights.
