This 51-story mixed-use and residential building sits next to the Barclays Center, whose rounded green rood offers a distinctive bucolic view through floor-to-ceiling windows of the apartments that face it as well as views of the skyline from Manhattan to Rockaway Beach in every other direction.
As the tallest building in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn Crossing is designed as a gateway to the expansive, 22-acre Pacific Park development, located over the Long Island Rail Road tracks. The building features a brick and stone base, channeling inspiration from the brownstone of the surrounding residential neighborhoods, but it rises into a modern, transparent glass façade that reflects the sky and the Manhattan horizon. The design team imagined the building, with its many masses and setbacks, as a naturally occurring rock-crystal-gem formation. The base of the structure represents the “rock,” articulated and grounded like its neighborhood. The “crystal” rising out of it represents a more elevated core that houses the residential program. Finally, the sleekly faceted “gem” features terraces angling out to offer vast views of downtown Brooklyn, the Brooklyn Bridge, and the Manhattan skyline. This is also where the building’s amenities are located including lounges, a rooftop pool deck, gym, office complex, kids playroom, screening room, and library.
