Representing through regenerative design.
A diplomatic project designed through climate.
The Belgian Embassy in Kinshasa hosts not only Belgium but also the embassies of the Netherlands and Luxembourg within a shared site.
In a tropical context, the project uses climate as a primary design tool. A central open atrium enables natural convective airflow, passively cooling the building.
A parametric façade of vertical fins varies across floors, optimizing shading and ventilation. Combined with a high-performance envelope, this reduces cooling and dehumidification needs by up to 75%.
The building is not sealed—it breathes.
Architecture becomes an environmental mediator between climate and use.
