Brenac & Gonzalez & Associés was founded in 1981 and today employs around forty people. Alongside its built work and participation in architectural competitions, the firm is engaged in ongoing research focused on the development of building typologies, educational and cultural programs, housing, commercial and institutional spaces, environmental protection, and urban planning.
This page presents a selection of nearly fifty years of architectural practice through a wide range of projects of varying scale and complexity. It also offers an opportunity to reflect on both past and future, allowing these projects to be connected across time.
What first became apparent to us, when reflecting on our body of work as a whole, is a gradual liberation from any form of dogma in favor of a pragmatic approach. Our positions have become more flexible; they are neither fixed nor definitive. Our architectural language has freed itself from any affiliation or restriction.
Without rigid rules, the notions of continuity or rupture naturally lose their relevance; there is no transgression, but rather a process of blending and assembling. Our projects result from a process in which contextual parameters — sites, clients, budgets, a desire to experiment, or simply a state of mind — play a key role in shaping our decisions.
