"Connect without causing oddness" - this is the lighting design's definition for the Zee.Dog Temple, a translucent box with three floors and a roof. Opened at the end of 2021, it is intended to offer "astonishing experiences to the brand community" - in the words of its founders. The building also functions as a gigantic showcase for the products that the brand sells online, basically focused on the canine world. The approach of the brand's creators advocates a place that has the aspect of a museum and is a point of connection between dogs and humans, the home for the community of people who identify with the brand's lifestyle.
A blind concrete gable, released from the ground by a luminous niche, guides humans and dogs to the back, where the entrance is located, on a backlit translucent polycarbonate wall. Several tests on mockups were necessary until the perfect diffusion of light on this wall was achieved. Another access leads to the subsoil, where a kind of "sports square" offers recreational activities for dogs and owners.
The lighting project's response to this proposition was well matched. It was not only a question of functionally meeting the challenges presented to them, but also of taking the resources of the language of light to the limit so that it really expressed the underlying contents of the brand, in addition to being totally amalgamated with the architecture.
