Casa Biribinhas – light as an extension of the landscape
At Casa Biribinhas, the lighting design reinforces the relationship between architecture, vegetation and topography. Set within the Atlantic Forest, the residence uses light to create a gradual transition between interior and exterior, preserving the natural atmosphere of the site after sunset.
Concealed linear lighting integrated into slabs, ceilings and joinery highlights the horizontal composition while keeping fixtures visually discreet. In the social areas, diffuse light and carefully positioned accents enhance wood, concrete and translucent surfaces without competing with the surrounding landscape.
Along the circulation routes, recessed floor lights guide movement and reveal the texture of walls and stone flooring. Outdoors, the vegetation is illuminated with restraint, emphasizing selected layers of the garden while maintaining the darkness of the forest.
The result is a precise and understated lighting scheme that allows the house to emerge gently from the landscape.
