On October 28, “Yuhang Future Coordination,” a floating art installation designed by Zhu Peidong, Co-Founder and Chief Architect of line+ studio, lifted off above the central axis of Hangzhou’s Future Sci-Tech City, marking the opening of City Axis: Micro-Aesthetics of Urban Future.
Hosted by Rong Design Library and curated by Zhang Lei and Lu Jingyi, the exhibition gathers eight groups of artists and designers to explore how art and design shape public space. For line+, this work is both an urban art experiment and an invitation to imagine the city’s future together.
“It’s more than an installation — it embodies our imagination of the future city. Through light, shadow, material, and technology, we transform gravity into perception. When vision becomes tangible, the city’s spirit emerges.” — Zhu Peidong
Set at the future landmark site of the 350-meter Twin Towers, the installation echoes the city’s vision while connecting history, culture, and technology, creating a new urban “coordinate.”
Inspired by the triangle motif in the Future Sci-Tech City logo, the work takes the form of an inverted pyramid. Projection mapping turns it into a luminous signal from the future, floating lightly above the skyline.
Following Sky Ring, Yuhang Future Coordination continues line+’s exploration of inflatable aerial installations. This poetic, suspended ritual merges technology, art, and culture, transforming a single gesture into a shared vision of an open, imaginative future.
