Winter Sun, a public artwork and temporary bar, commissioned by King’s Cross is a collaboration between artists James Bowthorpe, light designer Kim Coleman and LYN Atelier.
Winter Sun took inspiration from our need for light in the winter, and the winter solstice. The installation is a circular structure, 7 metres high by 18 metres wide among the trees of Granary square, encircled by twelve glowing ‘suns’ emulating natural light.
The installation is a steel structure supporting an inflatable roof with layers of black scaffold wall sheeting, gabion cages, and plywood.
