The trapezoidal shape of the land, located in a summer condominium near São Paulo, guided the formal decision on the plan for Casa VLP. The residence has the traditional division between social block and intimate block, separated by a central circulation axis, which begins at the entrance to the house. This entrance is marked by a wooden pergola, which indicates the path and invites the individual to enter. The social block, to the right of the entrance, is quadrangular, while the intimate block has a longitudinal and more extensive shape. The division between the two blocks is also perceived by the design of the gable roof, reminiscent of the traditional design of a house, which, however, is divided by a central opening, thus providing more lighting and ventilation and visually breaking with the archetypal potential of a single-family residence.
Both blocks have direct access to the outdoor area, which has a swimming pool and a generous garden. The intimate block, composed of both bedrooms and service areas, also has individual staggered balconies and access to the garden on the side of the site, providing comfort and privacy to each room, while also creating a more dynamic design for the fundamentally rectangular plan. Both the social balcony and the individual rooms have direct access to the central garden and swimming pool, the main leisure area of the house.
The couple's suite has a privileged position, with a private balcony at the back of the land and also with a strategic window on the adjacent facade, which allows a contemplative view of the outdoor area.
The construction structure of Casa VLP is made of concrete, and the use of stone and wood predominates in the finishes. Stone is a striking element in the project, present in different ways, sometimes raw and sometimes treated, on the floor, walls and countertops. The frames, cabinets, lining of the social block and loose furniture prioritize wood, bringing warmth and comfort to the environments, along with a careful choice of fabrics and lighting. Finally, the landscaping completes and enriches the volume and comfort of the house. One of the biggest challenges in developing the project was to accommodate the extensive program requested by the clients, without giving up the spaciousness of the environments, considerable external area, ventilation and natural lighting.
