A dramatic cliff side overlooking the San Juan Islands was the inspiration for this 5,000 sq. ft. house on Vancouver Island. A horizontal loft-like living area is set above a stone base. A vertical wing contains the triplex master suite: a treetop study with covered terrace, bedroom and bathroom, and an exercise room/cabana on level with the vanishing edge pool and hot tub. The two wings of the house are bridged by a glazed connector and outdoor courtyard, where a graceful stone stair descends to the pool deck and waterfront below. Materials were chosen that blends in with the site.
